The scent of the big, wide world:
Let’s celebrate Tea Days!
Endlessly versatile, full of myths and stories and coveted all over the world for centuries; it is hard to imagine today that real tea - the fermented leaves of Camelia sinensis - was once not only a luxury product, but also a messenger from distant mysterious world.
In this post:
Well-traveled treasures
The first cargo of teas from China and Japan arrived in Amsterdam on ships of the Dutch East India Company in 1610; today dozens of varieties from all over the world can be found on supermarket shelves. They come from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, Vietnam and Indonesia. But African countries such as Kenya, Malawi, Malaysia, Uganda and Tanzania also supply our daily needs. All too easily, this everyday availability makes us forget how far these fragrant treasures have traveled and how much hard work goes into their production. To remind people of all this, the World Social Forum launched International Tea Day almost 20 years ago. It is celebrated worldwide on December 15, hosted by a different tea-producing country each year. We also share a passion for the world of tea: as one of the few manufacturers in Europe, our chocolatiers produce chocolates and pralines with real tea - small, special treasures, ideal for celebrating this wonderful day.

An award-winning gift idea:
They were celebrated as the top innovation of 2021 at the International Confectionary Fair: Our fine tea chocolate leaves in their pastel, elegantly designed aroma protection tin.
What makes these creations so special is their delicate shape, natural colors and the fireworks of flavor that each individual leaf brings with it.
We have poured nine of the fragrant Fairtrade chocolate creations into a delicate leaf shape for tasting, enjoying and giving as a gift. Happy International Tea Day, then - from your Lauensteiner!

Tea around the world: 10 bars of artisanal avant-garde
Slightly tart matcha, precious yuzu oil and white chocolate; strong black tea, fiery spices and fine milk chocolate - the compositions of the 10 Lauenstein® Tea Chocolates promise sensual fireworks. And thanks to the high-quality ingredients, they can also keep this promise. Our chocolatiers use white couverture chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 34 percent, milk chocolate with at least 38 percent and carefully processed teas as well as natural citrus oils and spices of controlled origin.
In addition to 'real' tea - i.e. black and green tea or matcha - other traditional infusions are also used. The mildly aromatic rooibos tea, for example, comes from the South African Cedar Mountains and makes its confectionery debut in white chocolate with orange sprinkles. Another classic infusion is the golden milk from Ayurveda, which sets the tone in the 'Turmeric Latte' variety.
To celebrate the day:
Our fine tea truffles, as befits a traditional chocolate manufacturer, we have ennobled some of our tea chocolates with our own truffle creation - to be tasted in the tea truffle specialties, for example. They are waiting for their big moment behind green tea-colored, non-slip textured paper with golden embossing: the creations made from golden milk, cinnamon and dark chocolate; from Earl Grey and whole milk or the finest rooibos with orange and a milk chocolate coating. The white praline with the mysterious decoration conceals a local delight: a fine truffle cream made from rhubarb fruit tea with a hint of beetroot. The rosé-colored topping: slightly crunchy, freeze-dried rhubarb.
