Reducing waste
Unfortunately, we’re not allowed to use recycled paper for our present boxes. However, the material that turns to recyclable paper from our cardboard boxes is processed by a handler to packaging cushion. We use this recycled material for our packaging.We strive to reduce single-use plastic and use recyclable PET plastic instead where it’s necessary. The paper and wood for our noble boxes originate from sustainable regional cultivation.
Orientation towards the future
For our company’s internal transport, we employ reusable containers as much as possible. Furthermore, our vehicle fleet for our in-house transportation includes an electric vehicle since 2009. Besides the power generation through our own solar panels, we use only 100% green energy.
Short Transport Routes
We purchase our cardboard boxes and wooden packages predominantly with local German producers. The vast majority originates from regionals businesses in the vicinity of 150km from our confectionary. This enables short transportation routes thus resulting in lower CO2 emissions.
Fairtrade
As a company we carry responsibility for a sustainable handling with our raw materials and their producers. For this reason, we obtain our cocoa from a Fairtrade-resource-model ('Kakaoprogramm') and therefore contribute to the support of the 200.000 Fairtrade cocoa farmers worldwide.
The Fairtrade bonus funds are utilised to assure a fail safe if there is a fall in prices. Additionally, the funds flow into Fairtrade collaborations providing various cocoa farmers with support for increasing the quality of their harvests, training, education and with the acquisition of new machines or similar tools.
