Crispy & golden:
Turmeric chocolate rings
Today it's going to be very colorful on the cookie plate, but of course also delicious.You can already imagine where the great golden color comes from: Turmeric!

The superfood turmeric
Turmeric resembles a ginger root on the outside. However, an intense yellow color is hidden under the skin. This is why the root is not only used as a spice, but also as a natural colorant. The tuber originated in South East Asia and its consumption was already recorded in documents dating back to the 7th century. In some cultures, turmeric was even considered a sacred plant.
Here in Germany, the yellow tuber has only recently been experiencing a great deal of hype. In Ayuverdic medicine, however, the spice has enjoyed great popularity for thousands of years. There are now numerous serving and recipe suggestions with turmeric - and we have one right here:
Turmeric chocolate rings
Ingredients short pastry:
- 180 g cold butter
- 280 g flour
- 80 g sugar
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp vanilla paste
Ingredients topping:
- 4 bars of tea chocolate
"Golden Milk Turmeric Latte"
from Lauenstein
(corresponds to about 240 g) - 50 g chopped hazelnuts
Quantity & duration:
- 3 baking trays
- 50 minutes

Preparation of the shortcrust pastry:
Dice the cold butter and knead quickly with the remaining ingredients to form a smooth shortcrust pastry.
Wrap the dough in cling film and leave in the fridge to chill for 30 minutes to an hour.
Roll out the dough on a floured work surface and cut out rings.
Place the rings on three baking trays lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 175°C for around ten minutes.
Leave to cool completely afterwards.
Preparation of the topping:
To make the topping, melt the chocolate and leave to cool briefly.Then dip half of the cookies into the chocolate icing.
Then sprinkle with the chopped hazelnuts - and you're done!
